Acworth Center for Family Dentistry’s in-house team of dental specialists provides root canal therapy to patients who are experiencing pain from an infection or inflammation inside of a damaged tooth. A root canal procedure is performed when the pulp of the tooth is damaged, causing prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration, swelling, tenderness and recurrent pain.
When you visit our Acworth-area dental office for root canal therapy, our in-house root canal specialist, called an “endodontist,” will conduct an X-ray and administer a local anesthetic to numb the tooth. Our endodontist will then place a dental dam over the tooth, which will allow the area to stay sanitary and saliva-free during the root canal procedure. An opening will then be made in the crown of the tooth, and the pulp chamber will be cleaned from infection or inflammation. We will determine if you should schedule a final visit with your dentist to place a dental crown on the tooth in order to protect the area and improve its functionality.
Often, root canal therapy can be performed in our office in as little as one or two visits. To schedule an initial consultation with Acworth Center for Family Dentistry’s root canal specialist, please call (770) 203-1711 or schedule an appointment online.
